Campbell Martin

Campbell Martin is a member of the National Union of Journalists and the Association for Scottish Public Affairs.

A former Member of the Scottish Parliament, Campbell now covers news, politics and current affairs.  In addition, he edits the3towns.com, an online local newspaper covering the three North Ayrshire towns of Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston.

Formerly secretary to the SNP Cabinet and Whips Administrator to the SNP Scottish Parliamentary Group (2000-2003), Campbell was expelled from the party after leading the movement that brought to an end the unsuccessful leadership of John Swinney MSP.  In publicly calling on Swinney to resign, Campbell also stated his opinion that Alex Salmond should return to lead the party.  Following Mr Swinney's subsequent resignation, Alex Salmond did return as leader of the SNP, which led to the party winning two successive Scottish Parliament Elections (2007 and 2011).  The SNP currently forms the government of Scotland, having secured an overall majority of seats at the May 2011 election.

Sitting as an Independent MSP (2004-2007) Campbell worked closely with Margo MacDonald, another former SNP MSP.
